Using Kandji Self Service Portal

Kandji Self Service allows you to install printers, optional apps, and approved extensions without the need for admin permissions.

Open Kandji Self Service from the Menu Bar or from Applications:

Browse All or select a section or search from the left side menu:

Self Service items are either Auto Apps (preconfigured and managed by Kandji) or Custom Apps/Scripts (preconfigured and managed by OMCA Technology).

An Auto App uses the brand icon and is automatically updated by Kandji when there is a new release, some settings for auto apps are not modifiable such as Notifications and Security settings.

A Custom App has a generic package icon and is manually configured and updated as needed and pushed out to active devices by our team:

Click on an installer (not the install button) to see additional info about the item:

Click on Activity icon to see download progress:

Best Practices for using Kandji:

  1. Restart your Mac once a week so it stays in contact with Kandji and the agent receives needed updates.
  2. Connect via Ethernet if possible when downloading, if using WiFi make sure you’re on museum-emp when on site.
  3. If downloads are stalling or slow try restarting your Mac.
  4. Do not delay updates when Kandji actions are required, these are necessary for security reasons.
  5. Let us know if you run into any issues using Kandji by submitting a ticket with support@museumca.org.
